An unexpected professional meeting led my ISR journey to ISB Hyderabad
Sometimes, meaningful opportunities arrive through simple conversations. What began as a casual interaction at an event turned into one of the most memorable milestones in my Individual Social Responsibility journeyโdonating my book to the prestigious Indian School of Business library. Thatโs a different level of fulfillment. This is the story of my #ISR Project 3 at ISB Hyderabad.

The author and his grandson visited ISB Hyderabad as guests but left behind something that could benefit its library users for years.
Some opportunities in life are carefully planned. Others arrive unexpectedly through simple conversations:
In May 2025, I attended a professional event where I happened to reconnect with a colleague, Mr. Sirish Sarma. During our conversation, I casually asked him about his current professional role. He shared that he was working at that time as Senior Manager โ legal & secretarial at The Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad.
That immediately caught my attention:
Ever since ISB was established in 2001, I have admired its remarkable journey. It was created to fulfill the need for a world-class business school in Asia and has successfully positioned India on the global map of management education. ISB has consistently promoted innovation, research excellence, and leadership development for future professionals.
For years, I had wished to visit this prestigious institution.
When I shared this with Mr. Sirish, he warmly responded with an invitation that surprised me.
"Why donโt you visit ISB as my guest?"
That simple sentence transformed a long-standing wish into reality.
A Visit Thoughtfully Arranged
Mr. Sirish personally coordinated everything for our visit, including weekend entry permissions and security protocols at the main gate.
I had one additional request.
I asked whether I could donate my book to the ISB library as part of my Individual Social Responsibility initiative.
And there was one more special request.
I wanted my 11-year-old grandson, Vivaan, to accompany me.
To my happiness, both requests were gladly accepted.
## My First Priority Inside ISB:
As soon as we entered the beautiful ISB campus, the entry process was smooth and seamless.
Within minutes, Mr. Sirish joined us and guided us toward the library because the librarian had limited availability.
For me, this was the most important part of the visit.
As we walked through multiple floors of the library, I was deeply impressed by the infrastructure, organization, and academic environment.
Soon, the librarian warmly welcomed us and seemed genuinely delighted to receive my book:

Knowing that my book would now become part of ISBโs learning resources brought immense satisfaction.
That moment perfectly aligned with my ISR missionโensuring knowledge reaches institutions where it can continue creating value.
Exploring the ISB Campus:
After completing the donation, we explored the campus.
Mr. Sirish showed us the following:
Academic buildings
Seminar halls
Workout facilities
Cafeteria
Student spaces
Faculty facilities
Beautiful landscaped surroundings
Souvenir store and finally
Selfie spot.
As someone who enjoys collecting meaningful items during visits, I purchased a few souvenirs.
One item stood outโa beautifully designed life diary that had monthly dates but no fixed days or year. A simple yet thoughtful product that reflected creativity.
The evening atmosphere was peaceful and refreshing.
Walking through the greenery while listening to Mr. Sirish explain the campus facilities made the experience even more memorable.
The Unexpected Email That Made My Day:
The very next morning, I received an email from ISBโs Learning Resource Centre.
That email made the experience even more meaningful.

They informed me that they had already added my book to their library repository and that it was available for circulation.
For any author, such an event is an unforgettable feeling.
Your work no longer belongs only to youโit becomes accessible to future readers, students, faculty, and professionals.
That is true impact.

My Response:
I immediately wrote back to thank the librarian for their professionalism and warm hospitality, as well as to express my gratitude to CS Sirish Sarma
I also shared how much my grandson Vivaan enjoyed the experience.
What touched me deeply was seeing his excitement while reading a childrenโs book in the library.
He already enjoys visiting libraries in India and Singapore, and I was happy that ISB created such a positive memory for him as well.
Perhaps this visit planted another seedโfor the next generation to appreciate books and libraries.
Why This ISR Project Matters
This event became my ISR Project 3.
And it reminded me of something important:
Social responsibility doesnโt always require massive funding.
Sometimes it simply means sharing what you already haveโyour knowledge, your work, and your intent to contribute.
My books may travel with me.
But through ISR, they stay behind and continue serving readers long after I leave.
And that gives me immense happiness.
Closing Thought:

Some people collect travel memories through photographs. I prefer leaving books behind as my footprint.
And I hope to continue this missionโone library, one institution, and one meaningful contribution at a time.

Dear Mr Suryanarayana S V,ย
I am glad to know that your ISR project has laid another stronger and a unique footprint on the sands of literature.ย Accept my most cordialย congratulations ย on your latest honours received from a worldclass business school into which your ISR project has found its way. ย A man of your creative talents does not needย any recognition from others to prove his mettle. But however much immune one may be from feelings of greatness and pride, one cannot remain unmoved when such recognition dawns on oneself from a prestigious Institution of Excellence. ย One would always nurture a secret desire for recognition.ย One's heart and mind are churning grounds or incubators of expectations.โฆ
Excellent narrative! Touching and inspiring too! Thanks for sharing your valuable experiences. --PKPV, Hyderabad.
